2008 Shiraz Wine

this stately shiraz has a garnet to ruby red centre with a bright red edge. leather, violets and minerality on the nose with plenty of berry fruits and plum overtones. the nose has developed particularly well over time with supportive wood giving it depth. a fresh, fruity entry with a slight mineral palate in the middle combines well with the wood's tannins. this is a beautifully complex wine thanks to its combination of hearty franschhoek fruit and french oak. a subtle coffee flavour and a tantalising spiciness makes this a rewarding example of a varietal discovered by the 13th century crusaders in persia. delicious with duck, goose, lamb and beef. excellent with more highly flavoured gamey meats. 13.7 alc. by vol.; 2.8g/l res. sugar
